At Biggar.Co Botanicals, our calendula is prepared using an alcohol-intermediary infusion method, a more intentional approach to preparing botanical oil infusions.

The dried calendula flowers are first introduced to a measured amount of alcohol. This intermediary step helps thoroughly moisten and prepare the plant material before it meets the carrier oil.

The prepared botanical material is then combined with the carrier oil and gently warmed under controlled conditions. Time, gentle heat and patience allow the oil-soluble botanical constituents to migrate into the carrier oil.

Once the infusion has had time to develop, the botanical material is carefully strained and filtered, leaving behind a smooth, richly coloured calendula-infused oil.

The result is a beautiful golden botanical oil ready to become part of salves, balms, soaps and other anhydrous botanical formulations.
